Xtranormal!!
this was a really fun assignment. i think that teachers and students could learn a lot using this program, especially the history teachers. using the historical figures they can create conversations between famous people throughout history and bring them to life for their classes, narrowing the gap between the students and what they are learning, making the concepts easier, and more fun to learn.
Cellular Mutations
sophomore year:)
The beginning of sophomore year began exactly as I had expected: reconnecting with friends, laughter, jokes, and complete disorganization. All of my classes were a new experience and with three new teachers I learned new sets of rules and learned what each teacher was like. Compared to freshmen year I wasn’t as disorganized, but I was pretty close. Having classes with friends always makes everything easier though. This year I matured though, and learned how to stay more organized and focused on my classes. I’ve always loved Connelly, and I loved it even more this year and I’m happy that i still have 2 and a half more years. I come to school everyday with a smile because I know I get to see the people that make me laugh and the people I get to make laugh. I learned a lot about my self throughout the summer and the beginning of this year and other than learning about myself I learned a lot at school too.
The class I was scared the most about was Geometry. Shapes confused me and I thought the entire class would be about shapes and measuring and complicated formulas, but I was wrong:) I loved learned about different ways to find angles and learning all their names and rules. They seemed so complex, but were so easily and it made me feel good. Geometry is all about rules, get the rules down and you’re set!
In bio I learned the answers to a lot of the questions I had about genetics and the human body. We learned about genetic codes, cell division, what makes up DNA, and other fun things like that. I struggled with memorizing the parts of a cell, but after a lot of studying I got it down:) I would become completely immersed in my bio work and notes, just trying to grasp the concept that EVERYTHING in the world is made of these tiny cells that we can’t see and that everything has parts and names that are just waayy too complex. But over all i really enjoy the class and I love it.
I thought my ethics class was going to be a breeze. It is easy because to me everything is kinda common sense, knowing right from wrong. But this class was more than just knowing right from wrong. We dove into who we were learning about our core values and learning the difference values and morals and rights and laws. It was kinda confusing, but once you learned the difference it gave me a new outlook. My favorite connection that Mrs. Callinan made was the difference between guilt and shame, two feelings all of us feel. She said that through guilt we “feel worthless”, but through shame we believe we “are worthless”. These were strong words that I couldn’t agree more with.
So far sophomore year has been a year of change, growth, tears, hardship, endurance, strength, and learning. Learning about myself and learning about others. I am really excited to see what else I learn about in Ethics class. I can’t for next semester and learning about social justice, it will be a great experience with lessons I will use throughout the rest of my life. I will live by the rules I learn and hopefully teach others as well through my actions and if I could change the life of one person through what i do, my life will have been a success.
welcome to my home, connelly; the place i love:)
I couldnt go to a better school, where my friends are great, and amazing memories are made everyday<3
